Poker anyone?

Anyone else here a bit of an addict?

I play pretty much everyday, on FullTilt and try to get to Harrahs once in a while.

I stay away from the cash games and only play the cheaper multi table tourneys ($10 ones)

My wife bought me a tabletop, cards, a shuffler and some nice chips, but I have only used them a couple of time. Not too many poker players around here in CHS.

I would like to use it more often...

No don't play but don't have anything against friendly games. But gambling can take away a person's free will and cause addiction that destroys families. So I choose to stay away from it.

The few games I have played over the last few years have always been with friends, family and neighbors. We have always used loose change or just poker chips if enough change was not available.

It is more fun to get whipped, or whip everyone else when someones house or life is not on the line.

In college you would have to take a shot or drink an entire beer if you folded. I never played much, because I was always the first one out. Never lost much money (just change), but always had the worst hangovers. At least the drinks were free though...

I always wondered and still do wonder who ever payed for all of the alcohol that was around?? I never bought anything but the occasional beers for fishing and all my friends were broke.

That brings us to an interesting question.

Is poker "gambling"? Many people would say yes no doubt about it while many would say no there is a large amount of skill required to play well. Sure there is an element of luck to it, but its not all about luck. Slot machines would be true gambling in my opinion whilst poker, and especially Texas Holdem requires a fair amount of skill to play well.

Thoughts?
