Mine aren't that age yet, but yeah, it is a very common problem. She is getting more independent and doesn't want to hang around the parents so much.

Yes, I have one 17 and the other is 15. They have gone by themselves once and all of the other times I've been around. I figure that as long as I know where they are going and I trust them, they should be able to dive on their own. I didn't allow them to for a long time until I knew what type of divers that they were and trusted them with each other in the water.

Mine can't dive yet, just 6 and 3. They bith want to learn to dive, so I'll get some dive buddies for a few years before they decide Dad isn't cool anymore.

Ours are 7 and 3, so we'll have a while before that becomes a problem! We do have a friend of the family who just turned 15, and we're buying her gear and putting her through OW. We have a cool arrangement with her where she'll go diving with us and we'll all take turns watching the yunguns! That should be sweet!

Mine is 5, but I don't know how I'd ever deal with her getting her own dive buddy. For that to happen the buddy would have to dive with me several times, enough that I trust that buddy with my life, once I trust them with mine and know they could deal with ANY problem that happens then I'd allow them to dive with my daughter.
Same goes for dating, that feller better win me over or he's not getting anywhere close to my daughter. I'm fiercely determined to protect my daughter from harm.
