I wish I had a camera!

I had my adv. nitrox, deco class at the quarry last weekend. When we walked by the fill station there was a AL80 with something fitted on the top. I had to stop and check this out. It was some type of coated foam piece that fit on the top of the tank down to about the shoulder. I asked the woman filling it what it was all about, she had no idea. It was dropped off so I couldn't ask the owner. My only thoughts were so it didn't ding the paint on the neck.

Anybody seen one of these? Not that I want one! We all know that it is cool for our tanks to look rough and used. More curious as to WHY anyone would want one of these.

was it squared? If so then maybe it would help the tank not roll around when on it's side. I may be misunderstanding the description though.

Nope it was the same shape as the top of the tank. The tank also had a boot on it.
