Who actually dives doubles?

Im curious as to how many people actually dive doubles...

If so, could you list what you use them for? I'm unsure on whether or not I should keep a rec wing.

I said doubles, but there should have been an answer for both. I recently took a tech diving course, and that's why I'm diving doubles. My plan is to use mostly doubles this next year just so I get used to everything so when I do dives that require doubles, I'll be comfortable with my setup. But I'll still dive singles too.

Both. Depends on the dive.

Doubles for training, doubles for deep, doubles for overhead. Singles for easy pure fun dives.

I do as much as possible of all of the above.

I'd keep the rec wing as a "starter" doubles wing, IF you think you're going to go tech and start diving doubles. If you think you're going to stick with pure single tank recreational diving, sell the rec wing and get a wing that's better designed for singles. Compromise wings like the rec wing are "jack of all trades, master of none" territory. They'll work for each, but aren't nearly as good as one dedicated to the purpose.

If you're diving a bp/w it's likely you'll end up with several (or at least two) wings and several plates anyway, so don't worry about it too much to begin with.

Well, I have a TransPac so if I do get another BP, it would a completely new harness also.

I meant that just diving doubles like a couple of times. Not necessarily only diving doubles and never singles. I chose the rec wing because I figured at some point I may try out tech diving (I'm only 15, I have plenty of time).

Harnesses are cheap. Most people have a harness on each plate, rather messing around with unthreading and rethreading the harness every time you change plates.

Most tech agencies I've seen require you to be at least 18 before taking technical courses. Personally, I'd sell the rec wing and get a good singles wing, since it's going to be three years before you even think about tech.

I think you have covered most of the reasons. I used to always use doubles on checkout dives, so it was easy to see me.

Just longer bottom time, and a bigger tank will weigh less and would just as well.

I dunno, I'll see how the bungeed wing does. I really dont pay attention to streamlining like everyone else. Just clip everything off and go.
