Faber Steel 95 1lb bouyant empty?
(Sorry, misspelled buoyant in the subject - forgive me!)
Looking at the buoyancy specs for the Faber Steel LP95 Empty 1.69 Full -5.37 I am surprised that a steel tank would be positively buoyant, even empty. Is this a typo? Does it perhaps reflect the characteristics without the valve? Last edited by RMur : 08-21-2008 at 09:42 AM. Reason: misspelling |

I believe the first specs are without the valve. A steel tank could easily be positive when empy. Steel ships float, don't they?

RoyN - Thanks.
The Faber specs are very clear, does not include valve. Probably a couple of pounds negative at the end of the dive which is what I wanted to hear. I hate diving AL80s as I nearly always end up fighting to stay down at the end of the dive. I just can't bring myself to carry a bunch of weight. Really looking forward to getting the new tank wet! |

A piece of advice to you, when you dive them and go to get your fills, blow out the water from the valve yourself and do NOT trust the shop to do it for you. If you fail to do this, you will eventually find rust inside your cylinder. Do it yourself, every owner of a steel cylinder should be doing this as well.
