O-Rings for Faber Tanks

Do you need a special size O-Ring for Faber tanks? When i was getting a fill at a LDS they blew an O-ring while filling and later said I should be using a different size O-Ring. I wrote the number down on a piece of paper and I can't find it now (I'll post back when i have it). Has anyone else heard this?

I should be a standard o-ring. The valve is standard so unless you had the wrong size going in, I am not sure what you mean. As for the number - I have it somewhere, just not in front of me.

o-ring

The o-ring on a faber cylinder that has the standard thread (3/4") is a 214 and is a 90 durometer o-ring. This is the ring that goes between the cylinder neck and the valve.

If the 0-ring you blew is not the neck o-ring, then it must be the yoke o-ring, and that is a # 014 and is a 70 or 75 durometer o-ring.

Hope this helps, Jim

Some valves (like scubapro) use a thicker yoke o-ring that is a 2-112. The thinner o-ring (the 1-014) may stay in place and seal but will often get blown out.

Found the number they gave me 112/90.

This website has a listing of sizes and uses:

SCUBA O-Ring Kits

Hi-Tech Seals Inc. - Nitrile 90 Durometer O-Rings

According to the table, the number he gave me is for a DIN, either though I'm using a Yoke, there is only milimeters in the difference
