DIN on all my personal tanks. I had an o-ring blow once on a dive with two students...we had to surface and I had to scamper about to replace the thing. Sometimes the person filling the tanks can get a little aggressive and it isn't always apparent when you first hook up the reg.

I own all my own tanks, and they're almost all HP (or manifolded), so DIN. I have an adapter for travel. Most of my tanks are pro valves, so I can put in the yoke insert if I want to loan a tank to a friend. The two LP tanks I have are DIN (300 bar).
I need to pick up a second set of "pool regs" so I can give my buddy his regs back... I use his yoke regs as loaners for the Al.80s my shop gives the DMs to use for classes. (He seldom dives without me) Easier than using the yoke adapter. |

As of the past few months, I had a 300 bar DIN valve tank, and now a 200 bar DIN with insert for Yoke use valve tank. My regs are DIN so i plug right into the DIN. I have been told though if the dive shop is having trouble filling your tank, which one of the LDSs here has had, with their DIN adaptor you can just plug in the insert in your DIN tank valve is so equipped and fill like a Yoke.

I dive din mostly because I own a lot of tanks, including doubles. DIN is also more flexible in that I can use a yoke tank simply by adding the DIN/Yoke converter. Can't go the other way.
On tanks, there are many convertible valves available as well. Most of my 80's have these. Its simply a threaded insert with 0-ring to use. (yes I know, its another failure point but if your worried about that, you'd be using DIN anyway!) |
