How long does it take to fill a tank?

I know there are some variables, but what is the approximate time it takes to fill a tank? I was under the impression it took awhile, like 45 mins. However, I was recently told it only took about 5-7 mins.

For straight air - figure fastest at 300-500psi/min. For an 80, dead empty to full quickest 6min.

Now, nitrox/o2/he, fill rates slow significantly to control heating of compression. O2, around 60psi/min.

If you're talking about my LDS, 2-3 hrs... I always get the "Well, our banks are awful low this morning....."

I watched a guy fill one in about 5 seconds the other day.....Couldn't believe it, thought I would be there waiting for a few minutes.

Hooked up the whip and psssshhhhhht, then he's handing me back the tank.. I thought that was kind of odd...

A certain dive shop close to Lake Travis does exactly the same thing. Makes me cringe .If they were not so convenient I would NEVER go there.

What did they fill to? If they filled it to 3000 that fast, I bet you have about 2400 after it cools completely. I would be pissed if that happened to my tank.

Wouldn't that hurt the tank? I would think a few fills like that and you probably will have problems when it comes time to hydro.
