want to go din!!?

well i have an oceanic gt3 secound stage and a cdx first stage that is a yoke adapter. I have 2 hp tanks and would feel better if i went din. THe tanks have the yoke valve that turns into a din valve so do i need a hole new first stage to go din?

You shouldn't. Most manfufacturers (if not all) sell some kind of adapter for their regs that will allow for their regs to be used on DIN valves. Call ST, I'm sure that they have them or can get them. I think we got ours (for Mares regs) for about $50 each.

There are adapters as noted above but some regs can be converted. Go for the conversion as that makes them a true DIN. Give the boys a call and they can tell you what you need.

Just get a DIN conversion kit for your first stage. That way you can convert back to yoke when you travel.

I much prefer the contained o-ring of a DIN connection.

As a mechanical engineer I think that DIN is over-engineered, but as a diver thats exactly the way I like it.

Since you have DIN valves on your cylinders convert your reg to DIN if possible.

Here is a thread about the same situation. It isn't hard too do.
If you go DIn also consider buying the screw on adapter so you can use yoke if you travel much.

Is it that hard to go DIN while traveling? Especially to locations that cater to Europeans? I know you should always come prepared - but didn't think you'd ever have a real problem finding a tank w/ just DIN..

Normally no... it is now more of a US thing to still use a yoke.. I have been DIN for two years, and while I have the adaptor to convert... have not had to used it (except for testing). I was surprized on a Dry Tortugas trip last month, that they had din tanks available....perhaps it is now a non-issue.

I have a DIN to Yoke adapter. My regulator is normally DIN, so then I just put the adapter on every time so I can go Yoke. I believe, if your regulator is Yoke, you can't use the adapter. So you want to make sure that your regulator is normally DIN, and then you attach the adapter to make it Yoke. I got my adapter from a dive shop, but I think Sport Chalet also sells them.

I will bet that ST has one also... but your approach is the same one I use...
