Super 82

What is an aluminum "super 82" tank? I was talking about equipment with an old friend who's been diving for over 20 years, when he told me that this is the tank he has. I didn't think anything about it, but I can find no reference to it anywhere on the web. What the heck is it?

I have never heard of it. But I have only been diving for 6 years.

I could be wrong but I would guess that he meant a Super 80 which is a luxfer tank that holds a true 80 cf at 3300 psi

The only other reference I've found is on Captain Bruces (Hawaii) website. It references super 82's and super 100's.

Not that big of a deal, and I'll find out more when my friend gets down here. Just interesting.

Turns out it's a super 80, but I guess they (where he's from) call them 82's because they can get 82 in 'em.

I have used one and they are also a bigger diameter than a regular AL80.

Yes, and a tad shorter too.

They may be steel tanks and can add the 10 percent to the fills.
