Altitude Diving
As a former resident of Colorado, and someone who loves the mountains, I was wondering if anyone had any information about the PADI altitude Diver course, and if there are any links that I could access the info online. Is there a formula for calculating/converting the RDP table based on feet above sea level?
Thanks |

Altitude Dive Table
Here are the conversion tables for high altitude. I haven't taken the high altitude class. |

I know a few shops in CO and NM have done a few courses, but it's been a while and I'm not even sure that the shops are still around. Best option is to call PADI or go on their website and see if you can find a local instructor.

I think any shop that teaches in the Rockies can do the Altitude specialty. There really isn't much too it to meet the PADI requirements.
The best one I have found though was the Sierra Dive Center in Reno. For effectively $20 more than a 2 tank dive they do the specialty with you. They covered the tables as well as use of the wheel to plan your dives, something I hadn't been exposed to previously. Dives were in Lake Tahoe. |
