The plates and screws aren't bad, in the long run. I've had two plates and 6 screws holding my left wrist together since 1999. Motorcycles + Bambi = Bad.

The PT isn't horrible, and you'll get 99-100% mobility back.

Bummer about the not diving, though.

I had maybe 3 weeks of PT, which was mostly massage to keep the scar tissue down in the wrist. Massage, exercise then more massage.

It'll start with a light weight, 1-2 pounds, leaving your arm flat, palm up, and wrist draped over the edge of a table, You'll curl the weight slowly to rebuild the muscles. Then flip, so your palm down, and pulling back.

I also added a weight after the PT, to help my twisting motion, by letting my arm hang down, then using my wrist only (as much as possible) to rotate the weight side to side.

I'd say I got 99% of the motion back, with only a slight difference in the bend. My right wrist (unbroken) can flex down to 90 degrees, my left (broken) can flex to maybe 75-80 degrees. Full rotation and rearward flex on the broken one, though.

Do you have Steri-strips or stitches? After my steristrips fell off, my doc cleared me for all water sports.

Out of curiosity, did you have a standard colles or reverse colles break?

Ugh...that's tragic, no doubt about it. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
