Unhappy Dry Vacation

I'm having a little pity party for myself over here. My cousin is getting married in Mexico next week and I'm heading down there for 10 days. This trip has been planned since last Christmas, and I even finished up my cave training earlier this sping in anticipation of diving the cenotes. I had booked my diving with 2 excellent ops, even had my gear laid out and ready to pack.

Monday I crashed my car, smashed my wrist, and cut up my face. Today I have surgery to put in some screws and a plate to put the wrist back together, so no diving, snorkeling, swimming, etc for me on vacation, oh yeah and I have a nice face full of scabs and cuts just in time to see 60 family members, some of whom I haven't seen in years, and for everyone to remember in pics for years to come.

I realize things could be much worse and I'm lucky to not be seriously hurt and that no one else is either, and that I'm lucky to even be going on vacation, but dang it's disappointing.

Oh Carol! I'm glad you are ok!
Stinks about your wrist- hope you can still lift the margaritas with the other arm, or they'll have to make sure you have a straw!

Maybe you should don a Baliwood look!

Is there any way you could cut trip shorter, just attend the wedding part, then go back for the cave diving later on when you are all healed? Spending 10 days there and not diving will be tough. On the bright side, I would absolutely plan to go to the Mayan ruins - Chichen Itza, Coba, Tulum are all worth seeing while there.

What a monster bummer. I hope your surgery goes well and you are back to normal soon.

Glad to hear you're ok. Sorry to hear about the diving. I'm sure you'll find another opportunity to check out the cenotes once you've healed and are back in the swing of things.

Sad to hear that the diving is down the drain and I hope you are OK...Give it some time and you will be back in the water before you know it. Good luck.

That's too bad. We'll host a candle light vigil down at the trolley car at DS in your honor. Does this mean that you will be selling some tech gear and a dive in Mexico at a greatly discounted rate? We wish you a speedy recovery
