I was diving in Lake Norfork in Arkansas and as you might know right now....it is very hot here! I had my wetsuit on and got extremely hot and since I was used to spearing fish with a 3-prong gig that I could load by hand...I forgot the loader on the boat for my other spear. I tried to load it by hand and my hands were wet and slipped and the spear went through my hand! It looked like we had fresh-water sharks and I had been bitten when my husband came around the side of the boat because of all of the blood! I hurried up and got the thing out of my hand because I didn't want to scare everyone but the blood did that for me. I wasn't hurt all that bad because the spear didn't hit anyting except a couple of small veins that were squirting until my husband stripped me out of my BC and wetsuit and put ice on it (in about 2 seconds, I might add) but it was a valuable lesson learned. I had to miss diving this weekend because of it so I have put this on my list of things to never do again! be careful everyone!

Ouch, I saw that happen once with a Cyrano Airgun, the diver was using the floppers to load the shaft rather than the loading tool. He got 99% of the way there before it slipped and the shaft went all the way through his hand.
Makes me ill just thinking about it, let alone how you got the spear head off considering it was a cluster head with barbs - Ooooouch! Kraks
