This guy is dealing with two divers with 25 cu. ft. of air between them at 140+ fsw and he is perfectly calm, the camera is not jerking and getting knocked around because no one is paying atention to it anymore?

He gets to 15 feet and they go OOA, and all he does is film the SPG showing no gas. No excitement at all on the safety stop? I guess people run out of gas all the time at 15 ft when they are with him.

In fact, before the emergency even started, who swims around filming their console all the time?
LOL. I won't argue if it is contrived. However, according to the guy they were strangers!

No such animal as 'too cynical' and I think you nailed what was bothering me.

EDIT: Being cynical is often a good thing.

cheers

I have seen a few divers lose it at relatively shallow depth and keep gong down. In some cases, a shake will bring them back to reality and it's time to go up.

As for the tape looking a little hinky, I can't say for sure. If I'm reading the cameraman's PPII right, he's in deco! Three guys, one tank and a deco obligation? probably not. And unless the PPII is showing up a little funny due to the camera, why is it flashing?

Looking at the tape I don't think it's a legit event. Just too smooth and all. That's not how real life is, but perhaps they're just not aware of how dangerous it could be.

I am usually not too cynical. But I do find it useful to be pessimistic whenever possible - that way I can only be pleasantly surprised.

I think that was the point of the guy who put up the vid. Remember, he was not with those two.

He added his comments to the video later. The two other divers did NOT know what was going on. That is the moral of the story.

I tried to look at the other 2 diver's depth gauge but it didn't have an max depth indicator that I could see. It did seem too calm. Who would be take a video of the their computer in the middle of a rescue? I know that I would to busy taking care of the divers.

But they knew when he got there they were low. Then at the SS they had 0 psi and still breathing along as if they had no cares at all. Trust me, every diver I've seen with 0 psi and only one cylinder had a care, even if it was at a safety stop, even if they were using somebody else's air.

Plus, why did the video guy keep looking at his gauges and taping them? I think it was for theatrics mostly.

I tend to agree with the previous threads. 1. It's a great reminder to be vigilant for the other guy; and 2. Something just doesn't seem right about the whole setup. But, sometimes even a dramatization gets the message across.
