OMG. I am so glad the State AG has decided not to allow him off on the silly lesser charge.

The Coroner who accepted the plea deal in the first place should be charged with gross negligence of duty!

Personal opinion,..... put him in an air tight room, and turn off his FU*KIN air.... let him see what it is like to NOT be able to breath... then turn it on right after he passes out, and wash rinse repeat 5 times a day for the next 50 years.

Does sound like good news.

I would be interested to hear what some of our Aussie friends have to say regarding the chances for an appeal to result in a stiffer sentence.

OddBod, OTgav what say you?

I have to admit that I am pleased with this development. I had the feeling all along that this guy was dirty.

I saw the 20/20 special on this case. In the show they went into pretty good detail and had several interviews with divers that were in the water with them at the same time. They also went back and talked to the OW instructor that certified her shortly before they left for Aus.

I try to never jump to conclusions, but from all the info I've seen, he looks dirty as all hell. Too bad a young person had to die because of this ass.
Hopefully he'll get more than a slap on the wrist.

To ANYONE who has almost drowned ...... you (and I) almost know what this poor gal was going through when she tried to get air and couldn't at depth.... I hope that they fry this guys bacon. Sorry for being so brunt and harsh, but hell, I know what it is like to almost drown... you can basically just kiss your arse good bye a billion times in the time it takes your body to expend the air in your lungs... fry this bastard....
