Lost diver survives after 20km swim to shore

"FOUR Russian tourists in Egypt who went missing for a day while diving in the Red Sea have been rescued, state news agency MENA reported.
The four went missing yesterday after a dive near Marsa Alam, one of Egypt's top diving locations 800km south of Cairo.
One of the divers was found on a beach and the three others were rescued later at sea after a search effort, the agency reported. They were all taken to hospital."

These guys were really lucky!!

Wow, those divers really are lucky. Thank God they were rescued. I hope I never have to see another unfortunate loss of divers.

Yeah it could be called "Fin" or maybe something to do with the shark's mouth.

How many hours were they missing? Was a search party sent when the 2 surfaced without the 4?

How did they manage to get separated?

If 4 divers surface together and are lost at sea, would it make more sense to connect themselves together?

Unfortunately the news article doesn't provide a lot of details - how did 4 out of 6 divers get into such a situation? It sounds like strong currents were involved but not much other details are provided to see how this could be prevented in the future.

What could the 4 have done to have prevented separation during the night?
