Broken Leg

not me... the wife...

sitting in the waiting room right now...

yesterday, walking towards the dive shop, just out of the water after a dive, she was walking along a boardwalk sidewalk kinda thing, someone was walking towards her, distracted her, and her left foot slipped off the edge... about an 8" drop down, her twisted ankle could not bear the weight, and she collapsed...

normally this wouldn't be a huge deal, but, the tank from the gear on her back landed on her lower left leg and broke both the tibia and fibula...

I was in the water at the time with a student, she was on her way to the hospital before I got out and knew what was going on... luckily, a part time instructor and his wife both work here, as well as a divemaster that used to work for us... we've been treated pretty well...

she stayed overnight last night, although I had to leave at 8 (visiting hours), our instructor friend was here working from 8 til 8, so, I got in this morning to relieve him, even though visiting hours aren't until 1 pm...

so, right now, she is undergoing surgery to repair the breaks - some assortment of pins, screws and plates will be used...

she's tough, but its going to be a long road to recovery...
