I wanted to see if we could get a thread going that each of us post a good rule of thumb or a safe tip. As we dive we somtimes get so involved many divers forget all the things we were told from the beginning. VALUABLE READING FOR ALL OF US


FIRST TIP

Always check your buddies gear top to bottom after entering the water!

remember to signal the OK sign to the boat after entering the water.

Make sure that you and your buddy agree on the communication (hand signals) used for the dive.

Make a dive plan with your buddy before gearing up.

Don't Be Afraid To Call The Dive!

Maintain frequent visual contact with your Buddy.

Don't be macho; it is no reflection on you if you are cold, hurting, or just plain ill at ease at any point in the dive. Signal your Buddy! Call the dive!

Take nothing but Pictures and leave nothing but footprints.

Not having air is an emergency. Everything else is an inconvenience.

Equalize early and equalize often.

If you are having problems equalizing at depth then come up a couple feet and try again.

When you jump in the water on a dive you've done a thousand times and feel perfectly comfortable with all your equipment and everything around the area... get out of the water and go home.
