In just a few hours my time, it will be the first anniversary of Steve Irwin's death. Regardless of if you liked him or not, if you thought he was crazy or not (which is not the purpose of this post, mind you), let's take a moment to think about those stingy critters people seem to fear. Stingrays became the bad guy overnight, and a few were killed out of spite.
Let's not be those people! As water lovers, we can prove that as long as you're careful, accidents can be avoided. No matter what the critter! Happy and SAFE diving, all |

You know that had a big marathon type deal on Discovery the other day... It was really sad to watch him, makes you think about the frailty of life. He was messing with a croc that was one of the biggest he had ever seen and you could tell that he really respected the animal. As much as I used to laugh and joke about the way he seemed to put himself in dangerous situiations, I miss the humor he brought to conservation.

I watch his daughter's show on discovery kids, Bindi the Jungle Girl. It's definitely aimed for younger viewers, but it's charming to see nonetheless
It seems Wes has taken over the spots they had reserved for Steve to act in.. that makes me sad for their family. |

I liked him and thought he was a hoot. I can't say his death helped diving at all.
The ironic thing is that his death made alot of people ask me if I was afraid of "killer" stingrays. I answer them like this, Steve Irwin's death was a fluke. It would be like someone going out to their front lawn and stepping on a rake and inturn the rake hitting him in the head and killing him instantly.
