Juneau, Alaska Diver Found Dead w/ Full Tank of Air

This happened off of Lena point and the article mentions that the diver was found 30 yards from his boat and 100 ft. from shore. When they found him he had 2,800 pounds of pressure, nearly a full tank and his regulator was not in his mouth. They believe he was retrieving his moring anchor but did not say if he had dive problems or physical problems.

I guess this is where the buddy system comes into play. I know you can dive by yourself but the risk are higher. I always try to have someone with me and if they don't like to dive they can watch the boat or snorkle.

The autopsy will probably come back with heart attack as the cause.

Absent any more information than what you have here, anything that we say would be pure speculation. Until an autopsy is done, a cause of death cannot be determined -- and the chances are we will never hear about what the cause of death as found by autopsy will ever be released to the public unless the family agrees to it.

The only thing that can be said with certainty is that someone has died in some relation to our sport.
