Got hooked

Just an upbeat funny story in light of all of these tragedies.

I was night diving with my buddy when he suddenly gave the thumbs up and proceeded to ascend prematurely on our dive. When I went up with him and we surfaced, I found out that he was hooked by a fisherman’s line from off shore and they reeled him up LOL. Come to find out I was hooked also. It took us about 30 minutes to free ourselves. Thank god the hook did not damage any equipment.

Thankfully no injuries and no damaged gear...but I would have liked to see the look on the fisherman's face if you had been dragged up to a boat.

"You'll never believe what I caught! It was huge!"
LOL

Yes I seen the fisherman, they wanted me to cut the line to free myself but I felt too bad to do so. When I freed myself we swam to the fisherman and gave them an octopus we had caught because we felt bad for interrupting their fishing frenzy.

I am glad to hear that you or your buddy were not hurt.

Was you diving with a divers down flag? Did you enter a place where they was fishing or did they decide to fish where you was diving?

I can just imagine the disappointment they must have felt when they first felt the weight on the line, then saw the bubbles, then saw two giant fish...um...wait...those are people... emerge from the water

I tell ya. Its a happy story that could have been ugly. No dive flag? Those hooks could have just as easily caught your airline or worse you. I'm glad niether you nor your partner were injured. I bet you guys fight a little more than their usual catch.
