DAN membership is available for all divers and is broken up into different zones. There is Asia-Pacific, America, Europe, Japan, and Southern Africa.

I believe DAN membership and extra cover is a must and more so for the travelling diver.

Have a look at the following site for more info:

If I had DAN couple of years ago, I wouldn't had to dish out 330 US for a crappy dive computer.. THat wasn't all my fault that was lost. I will be getting DAN for sure this year. once I complete my DM and just before my trip to thailand in May..

I just renewed my DAN membership. I also set it up on auto-renewal, I'm not going to forget it again.

I started with their free student diver membership and insurance. They sent out a great booklet about learning to dive and how to be safe. I now have my OW and will be going on our first dive vacation next month. I have started it as a regular member. There customer service is great.

I thought I read recently in the DAN magazine that they can help out with medical even if you aren't diving.

Depends on what you are wanting- they have gear insurance as well as "health"- the dive insurance is like $70 US a year and you simply can't beat knowing when you dive, IF something happens they're there to help you. Great peace of mind for so little; their gear insurance varies determined by the amount/cost of your gear. Again, great peace of mind for so little cost.

DAN always gives me peace of mind when traveling. Hope I will never need their service, but if I ever do I want to know it is a organized place I can trust myself into.

Yes
"$10,000 (maximum lifetime benefit) coverage for eligible charges from the treatment of non-diving accidents outside your home country."
