It has been tried and the insurance companies will keep an eye on loved ones. I have read about 3 "lost divers" whose wives cashed in and moved to the Bahamas to live with the "lost diver". They should all still be in jail or at least paying back the money plus some.

Sorry to hijack this, and sorry to be a buzz kill.

Though off topic.. The British man who came back several year after he was presumed dead (not sure what kind of accident). I don't think they are in jail but the wife has to give the money back Not sure what is happening. The insurance companies sends investigators even he has been presumed dead for a while. They are almost like legal mafia.. They will keep searching until they get you..

Cory also worked in Illinois as a dive instructor. He did my checkout dives for drysuit at Haigh Quarry.
He seemed like a really good guy. I’m afraid there were just too many high risk behaviors involved. VERY deep, at night, inadequate and\or faulty equipment, etc…
He would have been 35 the 18th of this month.
He will be missed.

update - we heard from Nekton

We got a letter and a couple of $400 vouchers a couple of days ago. Nice letter - we may or may not use the vouchers...

Thanks to all who replied - this has been a tough experience & I hope none of you ever have to go thru what all of us on the boat that week are still going thru.

DSAO!
