Diving in Dubai
Hello. Let me first apologize if this location was posted in an earlier thread. I learned the hard way that certain forum founders do not like repeats. Having said that, does anyone have advice, reviews or otherwise regarding diving in Dubai. Travel and weather advice would also be appreciated. Thanks, everyone.

I don't know a thing about diving in Dubai. I've traveled through there each time I flew out of or into Iraq. The hotels have a tendency to be moderately priced ($200.00 per night) to being entirely outrageously priced ($400.00 to $ 600.00 per night). The last time I came through Dubai was January 31st 2008 on my way home to the states. The exchange rate is @ 1.00 us dollar gets you $ 3.70 UAE Derham. Not a bad exchange rate but most everything there, food drinks, hotel rooms, clothing and just about everything else is virtually the same price you'd pay in the states and sometimes more expensive. For instance, in February of 2006 I was reurning to Iraq flying through Detroit, Amsterdam, and finally Dubai. A beer and an order of chili cheese fries at the ESPN sports bar at the Detroit airport cost @ $ 10.00 USD. One beer at the hotel bar in Dubai cost almost the same price !!
You didn't specify when you'd be traveling to Dubai. The weather in Dubai is hot and humid, there is generall a desert breeze blowing all the time. As I stated earlier, i last passed through there in January, 2008 and the jacket I was wearing in Iraq to stay warm had to come off when I disembarked the aircraft and left the airport. This time of year the weather is warming up nicely. during the spring temperatures get into the low 90's and during the summer temps get into the hundreds (110 to 135 degrees is common) !! ANything else I can help with just post it, or pm me. Hope this helped you out . Oh, by the way, Delta has non-stop service to Dubai from Atlanta, it's about a 15 hour flight, but it cuts out connections and security hassles. I've flown it twice and that's the way I prefer to go. IMO the fewer airports I have to see the inside of the better off I am (LOL) !!!
