Dive operators in Maui?

I'm going to be in Hawaii in mid April and plan to do a few days' diving in Maui. I'll be staying in Kihei. There seem to be dozens of dive operators in that area... I'd appreciate any advice on the best one to go with!

cheers Eileen

My husband and I dive Maui every year (we own a timeshare there) and we dive with Ed Robinson's. They tend to be geared more toward the independent and experienced diver than some other ops. Other good choices IMO would be B&B Scuba and Mike Severns. Frankly, you wouldn't go wrong with any of these three for boat diving.

For guided shore dives, I've heard Shaka Doug is really the best. I've also heard good things about Maui Dreams, but Shaka Doug in his "scuba bus" is known for his excellent personalized service.

My recommendation is Ed Robinson's. Other highly recommended (by others) boat diveops in that area are Mike Severns or B&B Scuba. All leave out of the Kihei boat ramp which is 10 minutes from anywhere in Kihei.

For shorediving try Maui Dreams Dive Co. or Shaka Divers.

Good shoredive sites close by are Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, 5 Caves/Graves or Makena Landing. Read about them:

Oops, Zenagirl beat me by 8 minutes. Probably while I was pasting in all these links...LOL
