Florida... or similar?

looking for a weekend getaway for the wife and I for our one year anniversary...

looking for something at least somewhat romantic, on the beach, would prefer a pool with an ocean view as well... thinking somewhere on the atlantic coast of Florida, but open to other ideas within reason as well... flying from san antonio, can easily fly to ft lauderdale, orlando or miami...

looking for something preferably under 200 / night, but could spend a little more if it was really worth it...

any ideas? personal experiences?

I've been to a million websites, and found lots of options, i just want to make sure its right...

edit: this is not a diving vacation, but we are going to dive a couple times at least...

Ft. Lauderdale. You could do a couple of easy shore dives and not worry about making any boat schedules, etc.

Why limit it to Florida? You can get to Mexico areas for the same (or less). $200 a night buys a pretty good hotel in Cozumel, Cancun, or Playa.

I'd recommend the Playa del Carmen/Tulum area in Mexico. You could easily get there, it's well within your budget, and you'd have a range of resorts and activities.
We got married there, and I think it would make a great anniversary trip!

Fly to Miami, rent a car for the weekend and drive to Key Largo. Plenty of dive operations there to choose from, if you need help selecting one try the PADI website or google scuba diving in Florida......just a suggestion.

Cancun / Cozumel / Playa are all options for us as well...

the fly to miami, rent a car deal was what I was originally thinking...

however, scheduling is the worst part... trying to get out of San Antonio around 3 in the afternoon on friday, and come back monday evening...

and I can't find any decent deals on flights to cancun... gonna keep looking...

Scratch the beach idea if you are thinking of key largo. There aren't any. I just got back yesterday, and the only beaches [tiny] are manmade ones. I dove with conch republic, which was a great dive op, and I had a lot of fun. The only thing with key largo is all the reefs are offshore by a few miles, so boat dives are the only way to get there.
