We decided not to book the cruise-offered dive on our last Celebrity cruise and just walked in to the port dive shop to join their morning dive. That worked out well for us but the warning is that if a non-cruise related excursion operator comes back late, the ship won't wait for you.

Nothing was wrong with Eden Rock. The reason it was an "exception" is because it was the only shore dive. The rest of 'em were boat dives and I was trying to make the point that none of the dive boats were crowded. The shore dives at Eden Rock were very enjoyable. Sorry for the confusion!

I have made two dives from a cruise ship, well not from a cruise ship as that would be one heluva giant stride. But I went in Belieze and had a great dive (other than my depth guage did not work while wall diving) and in the Caymans I had a leaky reg. Now I bring all of my own gear, but I love cruises and love diving so I pay a tad more to ensure I do not get left behind
