How many people out there can honestly say they know the names of the dive staff on their vacation? From what I've seen, not alot. I don't get it

I knew everyone by name at the shop I used in Playa back in January, but usually I just get to know the DM/DI and captain/first mate.

I always get to know the people I dive with. It's intetesting to talk with them and they know the "good" dive sites that most vacationers never get to see.

Its one of the first things I note in my logbook. Its the only way I can remember them later.

Same here. Plus always get to know the names and e-mails of the people with the cameras.

i usually remember especially if i am there all week! but because my alzhimers shows up i write their names down in my log book. because if they are good i tip them directly , not the universal boat tip jar

I remember mine from my trip to Belize, most of the staff at the hotel too

I make it a point to get to know them. Some have become good friends

Not me... so few of my dives happen while I'm on vacation that it isn't particularly important to me. I haven't had many experiences with vacation dive staff that made want to keep in touch.

Of course, I know most of the boat crews and dive shop employees I interact with locally, as well as the National Marine Sanctuary staff, some local commercial fishermen, Historical Society and Lifesaving Museum folks, a few people from the Boston Harbor Islands national park, a few from the Board of Underwater Archaeological Resources, etc.
