I've seen them from time to time but as far as diving them they sucked . They were the size of a real grenade and the webbing went through the middle of them and they dug into my skinny frame. As a novelty they were OK, but very uncomfortable. I wish I still had mine, though....

We call those bullet weights.
I never fly with weights, however... it's somewhat pointless, when weights are easily available at any travel destination. I've heard horror stories about travel, but never had an issue when I hand my bags to the handler and make sure they know I have "scuba equipment" and "lighting battery packs" in my carry ons and checked luggage. As long as they have context in mind when they first look at the pictures on the x-ray machine, things go smoothly. What you want to avoid is any sense of surprise... |

packing gear
I do most of my diving long distance and carry on my reg and camera/strobe. the xray techs usually pause a sec and give me a funny look and I say "scuba gear" they nod and pass it with out problems. but then again, they all seem to operated on their own separate set of rules so no telling what will happen the next time.
I do seem to get the rag swipe and test for nitrogen routine a lot but that takes only a minute or two. but your best bet is to always carry it on. that way you have control over it and can explain it to who ever checks. |

I'll pack my nalgene bottle, empty of course. Wow, it sure is the small things that really make me say "hmmmmm..."
