Yeah, vortex is in the sticks! Like FishFood said, the BBQ that is there on the weekends is really good. And they make some pretty tasty sweet tea to wash it down with! They also have some chips and candy and crap like that in the dive shop on the grounds. I also would reccomend bringing a brown bag lunch.

If when you leave out of vortex and take a left. Then you go down to main road right past the gas station there on the right and turn right on to that state highway there. Then you go down a little ways and you will see a place to eat on the left. It is a small place, but it has a salad bar, and the people have always been nice to me and mine. Not sure the name of the place, but i remember that there is only one place on the left so you can miss it.

That's "SALLY'S". great food. Cheeseburger and soucream/chive fries rock there. There's also a Subway on the south side of the I-10 exit also. Not that it's all that or anything, but about the only other option besides Sallys. Vortex has some food in the shop, but mostly junk food that they would sell at a campground store. |

Vortex has a new owner, new management, and new shop staff. From the reports I've read, they are cleaning up the place. I still expect the basin to be crowded though, especially with Morrison being 'closed'. |
