Mammoth Lake Trip?

Mammoth Lake is now open.

Spoke with the folks on-site at Hydrosports Scuba, and they say that the depth in the Hole is at 60ffw, with an average in the lake of 20-40ffw.

This site has been a long time coming as everyone waited for it to fill; there is a variety of sunken objects in the lake for folks to gawk at and dive around.

http://www.hydrosportsscuba.com/

Any interest in putting together a group to go to Clute, TX and dive this site?

Proposed dates would be May 23-24-25, 2008--which should give everyone enough time to adjust their lives and join in the fun of driving down there after meeting in a central gathering point like the ScubaToys shop in Carrollton.

Who would definitely be in for this?

I never knew this place existed. It looks nice but a little for for me to travel to.

I met the owners in Bonaire a couple of weeks ago. They are still trying to get a handle on the viz situation. First they tried a flocculent (sp) which cleared up the water, but let the algae bloom. Then they killed th algae and the viz dropped.

They seemed optimistic about it for the upcoming "season" and felt like the viz was going to get better, much better. Call ahead and check the viz, tho' especially if it's been raining. My son and I plan to head that way in June, after we get back from Grand Cayman.

Sounds like typical Texas diving. At least we have another spot to haunt.

I wish. Sunday is my only day off.

My new job has no Memorial, Labor or 4th of July holidays...

Sorry to dig up a post one month later....

Platy, you still thinking about this? If so, Liv and I might be interested.

Unfortunately, I'm out of the picture.

My mother just got out of Baylor Irving Hospital this past Wednesday after nearly a month, and I am now the ringmaster of a three-ring circus of physical therapists, her husband, and running her therapy when the professionals aren't around.

Frankly, if it weren't for Scuba Rescue and First Aid training, this would be a lot tougher than it is--though it's still no cakewalk.

SO---all my free time with few exceptions revolves around Mom and her fight to regain a semblance of a normal quality of life, and probably will do so for the next month if not longer.

Another diver who is not on the board named Jack Dunnegan is also interested in this trip. If all who are interested will PM me here, I'll see if I can share his phone number with you to set this thing up.
