Blackbeard may3rd-may9th

Just wondering if anybody has been on a Blacbeard cruise lately. Just wondering how conditions are this time of year and if anybody is going on these days?

I haven't been on Blackbeard. I ordered a promotional DVD from them, and my impression was that the berths were very small, and that they encouraged partying. I don't want to dive with somebody who is hung-over. For $800, I'd rather go to Cozumel.

Is this a fair impression?

I'll be going in July, and am really looking forward to it, even though the bunks are small, and accommodations are reputed to be "spartan". From everyone I know that has been, they say that it is probably the best "bang for your buck" you can find. Hope your trip goes well... let us know when you get back!

Berths are small. No denying that. But I was only in my bunk at night sleeping, so it wasn't really an issue for me.

I can't speak for the company as a whole, but the trip my wife and I went on (last Nov 17-23) was definitely NOT a party boat. Lots of conversations and good times and there is alcohol (beer) available (usual disclaimer: it ends your diving for the day) but no one abused it or was rowdy or obnoxious.

I looked at Blackbeard's too, and my sister and I ended up going with Explorer Ventures instead (Turks and Caicos).

We had heard that fresh water is in very short supply on the Blackbeard boats, and she did not want to deal with a possibility of minimal showers. (She also gets very chilled, and likes a hot shower at the end of the day).
