have the tsa lock and on the recent trip had my bags inspected( little note inside the bag) and the lock was still on. so go figure. maybe the ones with no education are cutting the locks to take out some aggression

Which, to apply this tidbit to our paradigm, would be most all of them... or as chinacat correctly pointed out, not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

But what can you do? I am hoping some better standards will come into place with the change in leadership. Baby steps to 20 January 2009...

I used a plastic zip tie, and the TSA cut the metal zipper pull instead. Why???

I have used the TSA locks on many trips without incident. The only problem that I see with zip ties is how tight you put them on. If you pull the zip tie 'tight', you do not have much of an area to get a cutter into and cut the tie off.
