I've used mine on several trips, and so far (knocking on wood) they have worked like a charm. YMMV

On another thread of the same topic, it was split 50/50 between TSA locks and zip ties. Many said the locks were cut off and not returned, but if they used zip ties they were replaced.

I have one, it has never 'indicated' that the bag was opened and it has always made the round trip...unlike luggage tags....lost two of those so far

I have TSA locks and they have not been cut, but have been opened a few times.

I had a TSA lock. It worked well and had been opened twice. Just recently it was removed in FLL(Fort Lauderdale) either by cutting or if by key they didn't replace it. Nothing was gone from my bag except the lock.

My understanding is that the TSA key is kept secured and is a pain in the rear for them to get. However, cutting a lock is quick and easy, and works for all locks, TSA approved or otherwise.

Which complete and utter BS - there should be no reason for them to cut it especially since they have the policy where people can use them and it is the only lock "Approved By the TSA" - seems to me it could be partly blamed on laziness "we will just cut the lock since it is easier"

here is a link to the other thread
