We have a timeshare in Cabo and I dive it regularily. The water should be fairly warm in July (hi 70s?) the visibilty is usually ok but not stellar, has a fair bit of particulate matter. There really isn't much for soft coral but there are lots of fish, many eels, rays, porcupine fish, and tropicals. My favourite dive spot is Sea Lion Rock - which sometimes has surge and current but it's so cool when the sea lions decide to play with you.
I usually dive with Amigos del Mar, they have a nice wide catamaran style boat with a head and lots of room to set up your stuff, it also has a swim step so it is easy to get back into. They have well maintained rental gear, knowledgable DMs and oxygen on board. They are located near the Dolphin Experience close to where their boats are docked. The closest resorts within walking distance are: Playa Grande, Finisterra, Terra Sol and Sol Mar. Have fun, I'm jealous, I have to wait til Labour Day. |

I hope your friend has fun here. The weather is gray and kinda cool 50s but since he is getting away from hot weather he will probably appreciate it. Living here we don't appreciate the cool, gray summer! So much for global warming, we have had our coolest summer on record so far.
As far as the Finisterra, I really like the pools there and the Blue Marlin restaurant is good, we like the seafood night. The palapa bar by the pool has good american fare and drinks. The view from the Whale Watcher bar is awesome. All you have to do is walk down to the end of the driveway from the Finisterra and walk across the street and you are at Amigos del Mar shop. They keep their dive boats a very short walk away at the marina, and then it's a 5 min boat ride to the dive sites. Have fun. |

I am thinking of going to Cabo in July as well but I will be going towards the end of the month. I will be staying at the RIU Santa Fe. Has anyone dove with Eagle divers? I will be going by myself and want to be sure to use someone reliable.
I would like to dive with the sea lions, sharks and whale sharks if they are there. I read where someone went to the Gordo Banks and did a great deep dive and saw some crown of thorns starfish and butterfly fish, bulls eye ray, etc and had a great dive. Any suggestions for a lone traveler? Alaska is beautiful, was there a few years back in Kenai, Soldotna, Seward and that area... we flew in, no cruise so it was a great experience and would do it again!

Ihear they only allow 6 because the pangas are so little, when Icalled and talked to this guy he couldn't give water vis or temp, was only intrested in cc# and prebooking dives,Iwill check out eagle, amigos and blue water adventures before I give any one my$$$, if you get there before the 22nd try looking us up at the finnestera or around the dive shops. send a pm and I'll give info. Iwas told that amigos had the best boats for diving, and blue water has best website but highest prices
