Bonaire: Let's get naked!

While on Bonaire last week, I was searching for the Larry's Wild Side Diving office on Lac Bay, and saw a large facility that was enclosed in a green wooden wall/gate, sporting a sign that read: 'Sorobon Beach Resort: Naturist'....I interpreted this to mean that this must be a 'naturalist' site for eco-philes. I went to the office, knocked, and a lady peered from behind another divider. I informed her I was looking for the "Wild Side". She giggled, thought about my motives, and then told me to ask at the neighboring windsurfing facility.

Then it dawned on me: it was a nudist facility!

Appears to be a wonderful resort that may appeal to ST forum members, who would enjoy an alternative to the neoprene encasements. The Resort appears to be non-scuba though.

My trip rated a 10 out of 10, but I had to keep clothes on at the Black Durgon Inn.

Every diver I saw was getting enthusiastically gassed (in the nitrogen way) and smiling! The snorklers were just as happy!

I plan to visit next year for 2 more weeks!

A digression: AB Carrental truck rentals were great. Note that their office at Flamingo Airport is now closed except for drop offs/key box. You then just walk 100 yards to the airport for check in. (4 a.m. for me!)

AB Carrental provided a shuttle upon my arrival and took me to their new off site office. Al, the proprietor at the Black Durgon dive inn arranged the rental for me at a reduced rate. The truck was economical, great AC, nearly new, and could access all parts of the island. I received a very nice confirmation email from AB Carrental stating they had received the key, and the truck/gas was fine at drop off.

This company is recommended for truck rentals! I liked their service better than Budget.

I did not see any nudists in rental trucks though

We did our Naturalist specialty while on Bonaire earlier this month...and fortunately (for everyone!) we kept our wetsuits on!! <LOL>

Tonka, like you we had such a great time on Bonaire this summer that we're also returning next year for 2 weeks.

Bonaire has everything I need in a tropical location...the purest drinking water, English speakers, great attitudes of the residents, air conditioning, U.S. compatible electricity, protected reef and marine life, variety, decompression chamber with trained staff, U.S. currency no problem, friendly and numerous dive shops, unlimited air fills, the list goes on and on.

Not to mention nudists!

Of course we are all nude under our neoprene!

we noticed that place while visiting Jibe City during our last day on the island - we guessed it was a nudist place, but did not stop and check to see if we were right
