Packing for Cozumel?
My husband and I are going to Cozumel in September!!
(Yes, during Hurricane season...) This is our first dive trip. Any recommendations for a good travel bag for suits, bc's etc. that we could share? I'm trying to keep luggage to a minimum and would like to purchase 1 quality bag if possible.Any suggestions would be very helpful!! ![]() |

One bag might get a little heavy and you could get charged for it. You might want to just split it up between two bags. We purchased a set of really light hard sided luggage on sale. This is the luggage except I got it on ebags around Christmas for $260.

As lucidblue points out, 1 bag is probably going to be too heavy. Most airlines now have a 50 lb limit for checked bags so you will probably want to split your gear and each have your own bag. For your main gear bags, definitely get bags that have rollers. It's much easier to roll a 40-50 lb bag around an airport than to carry it. I have an Armor Ironclad Edition which unfortunately has been discontinued by Armor. ST does have a couple other excellent Armor roller bags as well as many roller bags from other manufacturers. If you can, you'll want to pack your regs, computers, etc. in your carry-on so they will always be in your care.
Enjoy your trip and be sure to eat at Prima! |

I used to think wheels were the way to go but most bags with wheels and handles, etc... come in around 10 lbs. I now use a nylon duffel bag that comes in under 3 lbs. I find the very short distance I have to carry it worth the weight savings. I can usually get all my gear and clothes in one bag and be under 44 lbs. A lot of foriegn domestic airlines have a 44 lb.(20 Kg) limit.

Save your money for dive gear. Costco has a Samsonite rolling duffel for $40. It rolls nicely and has ample room for gear + clothes. Should anything ever break or malfunction on the bag, you've got the Costco return policy to fall back on.
