The place we stay in Bonaire is booked when we want to be there. The better snorkeling half is suggesting trying Roatan for the first time. I'm thinking Utila.
So Where to go and why? Which dive company--must be solo diver friendly While money matters--I would be willing to pay for Nice everything--well to a point. Trying to be there from Dec 6th to 20th. I thank you in advance for all the help. Dave and Wanda |

We went to Roatan in February and stayed at BIBR and loved it and did a lot of diving. Plenty of snorkeling right off the dock and they had solo divers on our boat. The owners make you feel at home and the food is pretty good. Check out the review I wrote on TripAdvisor for some more detail. Let me know if you have any questions.

We stayed at Fantasy Island. They have a nice beach area and pool for the non-diver, and you can snorkel around their house dive over a wreck. Also, at least one day we were there, they let a non-diving spouse come along on a non-full boat and snorkel while we dove. The dive staff were very professional and took care of any single divers on the boats we were on.

I'd second the recommendation for CocoView... I haven't been, but it's on my "Really really want to go there list"

I'd also recommend Coco View . You can dive anytime day or night with or without a buddy. The house reef has two walls, a 150+ wreck and what's left of a DC3. Two boat dives with two drop offs at the house walls (Newman's Wall in the morning and Coco View Wall in the afternoon) are done every day. They carry your gear to the boats for the boat dives. You just carry your suit, fins, camera, etc. There are no assigned buddies and you don't have to follow the DM on the boat dives if you don't want to.
Food, ice tea, lemonade plus a BBQ and burger lunch on the house cay are included in the package. There is no pool though and not much to do if you don't dive. There are two kayak's and a yellow lab that will go boating with you! They do have massages on site available which my wife loves. |
