Diving Daytona Beach FL

I will be heading to Daytona Beach FL OR Fort Meyers FL for a week. I was wondering if anyone on here could give me any good advice on a good dive charter in or around the area. Do any of the charters go out throughout the week as well as weekends? Which destination would be better for diving?
Thanks for your input.

Frank

:/ The storm right now is messing everything up ATM... but Daytona Beach is not known for diving. Its vis is only in the 40-50'. Better to go in the caves/springs or head to Jacksonville or Pompano Beach.

Fort Myers isn't known for its diving either, I also agree on the springs or jacksonville suggestion...

40-50' man that sounds Awesome. Where I live I mostly dive in the lakes where 10-20' is a good day. Right now I am lucky to get 5' vis.
The reason I ask is I work in shipping & receiving & one of the trucking companys I deal with has a couple of old small hotels right on the beach they bought & renovated. They now use these to put up employees & customers at the beach for no charge for the room. All I have to do is get there and pay for other activites. One is in FT Meyers & one in Daytona beach. so I am planing a cheap trip to one or the other. So if there is no good ocean diving is there somewhere within driving distance, or I would love to know more about the springs as they would have much better vis than any lake I am used too. Which springs & how far are they from either destination?

Thanks again for any input.

Frank

Daytona diving

We dive here a lot, weather permits. I have a boat and split the gas cost with the rest of the gang. Around $200 for the whole day, split that 5-6 ways, and bingo! Not bad for a 3to 4 tank dive day. We never come home without lobster and ,or fish. And the lobster here is gigantic !!!! We see a lots of big fish, Hebrew grouper, sharks, big turtle, cobia, lots of other different fish. Even the damn lion fish is all over in some spots. The vis before the rains, was around 60' , but now is too windy to go out. There are a few good wracks out here too. And most of the sites are around 70 to 110'. The caves are good to do once, but the second time its just a hole in the ground. Let me know if you want to dive with us, we could use an extra diver or too some times.
Joe, the truckdiver.
PS: get your fishing license with the lobster endorsement.

I lived near Daytona for almost 20 years - nothing to dive salt there. Go south the Pompano as some others have mentioned or use the time to get a cavern cert and check out the springs - great vis, easy diving.

Last time I went diving off Daytona Beach, I was staying at the Daytona Bahama House, Daytona Beach hotels ocean front Bahama House. The receptionist told me of a great place off of New Smyrna to dive at and it was a great diving experience...even had a run in with a hammerhead.

Was it Ponce Inlet? That's where I dive when I'm around Daytona. Oh don't tell the loco's, they don't need to know. LOL
