Anyone been here before? My husband is currently in Iraq and I will be meeting him there for his R & R Oct 20-Nov 2 and am wondering if anyone might have more information on the resort?

I will have all my own gear by the time I leave. (all I have left to buy is the BCD and that will be in the next week or so)

My husband will be renting a BCD and regulator octo but will have his own wetsuit (.5mm), mask, fins, snorkle ( and "maybe" a dive computer if I get him one early for Christmas)

Hubby is an advance certified diver with about 20 dives under his belt, me.... well I am newly certified open water. (this was my 2nd attempt as I tried 3 years ago in Australia, but had a reg that was difficult to breathe through and just couldn't get comfortable with it and quit the course 3/4 of the way through the pool work) Had no problems this time, but bought my own reg before I started the class.

The trip is already booked, both flights and reservations. I basicly am wondering if anyone has any tips on things to bring, not to bring other than the routine lists I have seen elsewhere.

I understand that SCC is an all-inclusive. If the food provided isn't to your liking, the nearby grocery store has pretty much anything you could ever want. I recall some tasty pastries in the back of the store. There are a bunch of great restaurants in the area, but you already have all of that arranged at an AI.

Enjoy the excellent drift diving. Keep your fingers crossed that no hurricanes hit. :-)

Bring locks for the gear lockers. AI is rooms, meals, & diving so bring tip money for the last day (figure about $300 for a couple for the week). Office has safety deposit box for $$ and PP. Drinks are a bit pricey so stock up at the market just up the street. Food is pretty good so no need to go out unless you want something special one night. When you get tired of their back yard shore dive, take a taxi about 1/4 mile south to the light house and drift back (first confirm current is running S to N as it is 95% of the time).

Try to wear out a hammock. Enjoy

The other thing I like about it is the location. Its easily within walking distance to town, so if you want to check out the local resturants, its easy to do so.

We Will be there Nov1-8th. This is third time in coz first at scuba club. Everyone Ive talked to who have gone multiple times say it is the best. The dive masters are great.

Thanks for the info and encouragement that I didn't go wrong in choosing them. :-)

Will keep all in mind. Do they have a set amount for each service person for tips or do we pay what we feel is worthy? (I am normally a very good tipper provided I get good service-spent many years as a waitress and despise not leaving a tip compensatory of the service I got)

Scuba Club Coz is fantastic! They do a marvelous job of taking care of everyone, the food is good to very good, the rooms clean, the facilities are nice, the divemasters are excellent. The biggest weakness is the poor quality of shore diving at the resort. Yes, there are things to look at but there is no reef. The most fun is when you jump in at the lighthouse down the road and navigate your way back. Of course, all the wondeful Cozumel dive sites are fantastic.

About $300 per couple is a good estimate for tips for the week. Just think about percentages for key staff positions and you can divide it up into the envelopes they give you. Adjust to what you can afford.

Be sure to go downtown on Sunday evening when there are no cruise ships. The towns people have a festival that is wonderful. For other dining out or shopping just make sure the cruise ships didn't just unload 2000 people. There are several good restaurants on the square, a couple of dive shops, and lots of tourist shops.

The supermercado (supermarket) just down the street is very nice. You can stock up on snacks, get great bakery items, drinks, and liquor. They can handle pesos or dollars, cash or credit cards.

On your last day when you can't dive before flying, rent a jeep and drive around the island. Stop at each bar and have a drink of your choice and enjoy the scenery. It is a great way to relax on your last day.

My wife and I took part of our honeymoon here and let me say it is all scuba divers through and through....no tv in our room...nice tiled shower/bathroom for rinsing off dive gear...awesome food and all-inclusive being meals only....close to town, we walked, and awesome shore diving right off their beach, saw a seashorse! Boat picks you up right there, and if you don't want to worry about anything, stay here! I'd go there again in a heartbeat!!

There are plenty of towels in the room and they usually change them twice a day. The pool is not used very much. If you want to go in the water, grab a tank and do a shore dive. I've never seen much need for a towel on the boat but I'm sure you can bring one from your room if you want. Don't miss the hammocks.
