spring break in Cozumel

Has anyone ever done diving during spring break in Cozumel? I would like to go on a dive trip at that time with my 16 yr old but don't want to go if it is too crowded-not really worried about on shore-more when we are actually diving. We pretty much dive all day and then head back to the room (where he takes a nap and I clean the gear...). If not in Coz, does anyone else have a spring break diving suggestion that wouldn't drain my bank account?

We're already booked for Spring Break '09 and were there for Spring Break this year ('08) as well. I was somewhat surprised at how it wasn't really that crazy busy. We stayed at Fiesta Americana which didn't appear to be full. The pier was busy in the morning with various boats going out, or other Ops picking up (we use Scuba with Alison and she picked us up each day.) The dive sites we're fine ... somehow I think Coz isn't the huge Spring Break draw - except for divers - than say Cancun or Playa del Carmen are ....

Cozumel's busy season is Feb-May. Things are a bit slower the rest of the year.
The slowest I have seen it there was in August a few years ago, right before hurricane, and downtown was dead and the shops closed early as the cruiseships were gone by 5pm. I really hated it.

Thanks for the info-now I just have to get my son to commit so I can go ahead and reserve...this will be our maiden voyage without the LDS-by then I hope to have gone to Coz again (in Dec) and have it totally all figured out. We had a great time when we went in Aug (even with a few problems).

The DH & I will be there March 17 - 24 ... diving with Scuba with Alison. No hotel booked yet - we're hoping Orbitz does their Winter Specials soon, as we got a great deal at FA with a car last year thru Orbitz. Who knows ... maybe we'll see you there!

That would be the week. How much is it per dive with Scuba with Alison and are you guys doing a thing where they only take you or do they usually have groups comprised of different people?

I haven't checked for next year yet, but I think we've been paying about $60 a dive. With the gas crunch, don't know if she's had to raise her rates yet ... you might want to check out her site, and shoot her an e-mail. As of tomorrow afternoon, she's taking some time off, going to meet her parents on the mainland, and then I think heading to CA to spend some time with them (She's originally from CA) so she might not be too speedy with a reply the next week or two ...

She does a small group on her boat - max maybe 8? It's a real comfy boat and she is pretty good at the personal service. You get to dive your computer, and she'll have water, sodas & munchies for the surface interval. Besides all that, she's a lot of fun. We've become friends over the last few years ....
