Check out Juliet Sailing, not much more money, but it looks a whole lot more upscale.

We enjoyed the diving, but missed fresh water. There is no shower onboard. Much like camping. We can highly recommend CEX1 in Georgetown. Dive with Explorer Ventures. The diving is great.

I think EV has sold the CEX1. They are now going to split the CEX2 between SABA and Bahamas.

I think the Juliet has left the Bahamas too and is now working out of San Juan.

I did Blackbeards a few years ago at 42 and loved it! The guy I met on board and buddied up with for the week was 67 years young. We had a blast and never complained about the comfort, but that depends on what you want out of the boat. As long as you are aware of the limits and aren't scared of the idea, I think you'll do fine. It's a FUN trip.

I wanted lots of dives cheaply, and to spend a week on a boat. It was great. The bunks aren't that bad, I've had worse beds in cheap motels. After several dives (4-5) per day I slept great. There are several different places on the deck to get comfortable, sit, lounge, or lay out between dives. Bring some books and an ipod, and plan to relax. When shade was needed, they put up the bimini top over the boom and all was good.

I would be concerned if, as the post above mentions, the compressor isn't working well and I was limited to 3 dives per day. If it is working OK and the bunks and marine head (restroom) doesn't scare you, then give it a shot.

WOW! These Blackbeard trips look amazing!!! Limited "stuff" is, IMO, a good thing. Clothing geared to backpacking is lightweight, dries quickly and is a lot cooler then cotton. Undergarments are also available... two pairs of microfiber beats tighty whities anyday. I, a woman, lived for eight days with two sets of clothes.

Being too old and soft is a state of mind. I have multiple physical challenges and have wilderness backpacked. If you want to be able to do it,,, you can.

BUT... if you want to go with more ammenities the main thing on these trips is to have fun and enjoy yourself... your own way.

We camp with our boy scout troop every month and camping pads have come a long way. My favorite pad is one that has an inflatable layer and a memory foam layer... heaven! There are small folding seats that help with back support and a dining fly can be rigged up anywhere for shade or wind protection.

Whatever you decide, have fun!!!
