Sandals Dunn's River Jamaica - how's the diving?
Getting married at Sandals Dunn's River in April. They, as most of you know - include two dives per day in the price. Has anyone been there lately? How was the diving. I've heard the overfishing stuff. Is there some place inparticular that we could ask to be taken to that's better than others? How's the staff, etc? Thanks!

It's crap, dude, but it's still diving. Like they say, a bad day diving is better than a good day working...
In all seriousness, just don't expect anything great. I saw a turtle, but hardly any fish. The terrain is brown and boring. Just not much going on. On the upside, Jamaica is friggin' the bomb, yo. You'll have fun. Enjoy the rum punch, mon... |

Diving Jamaica - Ocho Rios
Been to Jamaica twice in the past seven years. Ocho Rios is usually a quiet dive. No large animals. If you can get a dive to the Nursury, then you will see some fish. Lots of over fishing. There is a airplane grave yard in about 60-70 feet over in the bay.
Be careful when going on any of the shopping outings. They can get pretty pushing and if you venture into the fenced in shop areas, you can get cornered. They have no problem making you feel scared to get money out of you. Dunns River Falls is really nice. The dophin and shark encounters at Dunns River is also pretty cool. If there are any storms within a few hundred miles of the island, the diving is done. Visibility will be 0. Total sand out. |

Agreed do Dunn's River Falls, if nothing else it will be something to talk about in the future. We did it several years ago and have come across at least a 1/2 dozen couples who have also done it. Apparently a big cruise ship destination. By the way, when climbing the falls, everyone utilizes a pull the next person up behind you system of hand holding. And of course it is all boy/girl, boy/girl. So the order for my Dunn's Falls experience was a big strong dude pulling my 110 pound or so wife up behind him, my wife pulling me up behind her, and me pulling up a Big Ole' Girl, behind me. Did not really seem fair as far as I was concerned. Great excersise though
