Scuba Job for School Teachers

I'm going to graduate with an elementary school teaching degree in December. I remember reading an article a while back about a program for school teachers where you could spend your summer teaching scuba down in the Caribbean and get room and board for the summer. Does anyone know what this program was or is? I have done some web searches and have been unable to locate it. If you know what I am talking about, please let me know.

Wouldn't you have to be Scuba Instructor Certified to teach Scuba?
I don't think a land based teaching credential would count.

What I remember reading was that over Christmas break, this company would train you as an instructor if you already had your AOW. You had to pay for travel there, but they would get your room, board, and certification. In return, you had to promise to come work there the following summer. It was some type of scuba program for children. I remember thinking it sounded great, but I dont remember any more of the specifics.

Try SeaCamp.org Don't know if that's specifically the one you're talking about though.

I'm a teacher as well, and i've talked with the sea camp people. They can not certify as an instructor, but they also need counselors who are certified divers. I asked them what my chances are of getting hired if i was a high school teacher, with a degree in marine biology who was a certified instructor, and they handed me an application right there Only problem for most educators is Sea Camp starts just after memorial day weekend (training starts then, camp starts 2 weeks later) I don't know how many schools get out that early, i don't get out till the end of june, so it wouldn't work for me. I'm thinking if i can get my instructor card i might speak with my superintendent to find out if they will let me use my sick days for the month of june so i could have this opportunity. I'd jump on the Carribean thing in a heartbeat if they are willing to certify me as an instructor over christmas break.
