Trip Idea
Looking to do a special trip for my 40th birthday in about 2.5 years. Just started diving this last summer so don't have a lot of experience yet, will be making a few more trips to Coz (and to the local quarry) over the next couple of years to rectify that.
My question is, where would be a good place to go if your significant other doesn't dive? I've narrowed my choices down to three locations, Lembeh (Lembeh Resort), Wakitobi (just for the resort, showed it to my wife online and she loved it), and Palau (Palau Pacific Resort). Would love to dive Truuk (since I'm a HUGE WW2 buff) but doesn't look like there is a nice resort there for my wife to enjoy. Would like some feedback from anyone who has been to any of those or if anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free to add. Thanks. |

I'd say if your wife doesn't dive go to Palau. Both Wakatobi and Lembeh Resort are nice places but are geared to divers and neither is close to anything especially Wakatobi. I've been to Wakatobi twice and my 3rd trip to Lembeh Resort is this November. With Palau she will have plenty of activities to keep her busy.

I think Palau would be pretty boring if you don't dive. Koror has nothing much but little hotels, a few shops, and bars. We haven't been to Lembeh but friends have been twice and there isn't much to do there either from what they say.
Are you looking at doing 2 dives per day then spending the rest of the day with non-diving spouse? Need special activities of some sort? Snorkeling? Hiking? Shopping? Spa? Mayan Ruins? Jungle tours? All-inclusive meals or not? I would say check out Fiji, check out Beqa Lagoon Resort or Wananavu Resort. Both are all-inclusive. Also, think about maybe Belize for lots of topside activities as well as diving. Maybe check out Ramon's. Bonaire or Curacao would be great if she at least snorkels. Check out Plaza, Capt Don's, or Divi resorts. check out Caradonna Dive Adventures - Dive Travel and Vacations website for info on some of the resorts. robin |
