Thanks DMWiz. I think I've made up my mind to just bring my gear. There's nothing like wearing your own stuff and knowing that it fits you just right. Thanks for the advice on the reg. I'll definitely be asking them that.

From someone who rented a lot before they bought, it gets kind of old getting used to different gear (especially the BCD) everytime. It always seems to take up time that you could be diving and enjoying yourself.

If I bring most of my gear (I don't have a BC or regs) I'll need to rent them for $16 and pay $30 r/t for my gear on the plane. So in the end, I can wear most of my own stuff and pay $46 or rent everything and pay $34. Just wondering due to size of room on ship and stuff like that. Any info on previous experiences would be greatly appreciated.
It's not that much difference dollarwise so I wouldn't let that decide. Curious why 30$ though, is that for a 2nd checked bag? Scuba gear doesn't have to be it's own separate bag or anything. We can pack all our gear and clothes for a trip between our personal item, carryon, and 1 checked bag. Since it's not a diving vacation you'll probably need more clothes, but you also don't have the BC and reg which are a couple of the bulkier/heavier items. So with a little care you might not even need to haul another bag.

Good point Damselfish. The $30 was the total for rountrip, $15 each way. I'll try and get it in one bag, but I know that my wife can't pack lightly either. I get 2 bags free, and honestly I don't see it happening. It's worth a try, though. Thanks for the advice.

As far as gear in your cabin you may be able to rinse all your gear down by the pool area then just lay it out to dry while you enjoy a frosty beverage. We had a balcony cabin so I just rinsed it there.

You can always wear your wetsuit and not have to pack it!

Very good point. The next piece of gear I want to purchase is my own BC. It's definitely tops on my wish list. The only problem I have is that list keeps growing.

Good point Buzz. We don't have a balcony cabin (they were sold out at the time of my booking) but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to manage. Thanks for the advice.

DMWiz, I think that's the best piece of advice yet! I'm sure my wife would just love that!
