Airline Size Restrictions - a possible solution?

With reference to Mitch's previous thread on Airline Size Restrictions:
I was browsing through a magazine (The Week) and came across an article about luggage delivery sites -
The Internet: Luggage-delivery sites - THE WEEK

This article mentions three sites (Luggage Shipping | Sports Express Luggage Delivery Service ; Luggage shipping and excess baggage shipping experts – Luggage Free and Luggage Forward - The Luggage Shipping, Ski and Golf Club Shipping Service) so I went to all three and looked at their quotes. I found that although none specifically refer to scuba gear, all have cost estimates for generic duffel bags and all - at least to me - are very expensive.

I would rather have the hassle of taking my gear with me and save the money these companies are asking!!!
