Isla de mujeres - how is the diving?

Thinking about going to isla de mujeres. My wife wants to know if the diving is any good there. Should we go? Is it worth it? Been to cozumel..thought we would do something new. It's either isla or pureto rico. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Absolutely the diving is worth the visit to Isla.

Some sites to check out;
1. drift dive punta sur-huge turtles and occasional dophins- advanced dive, strong current
2. Sleeping shark cave- where current meets fresh water- sharks "sleep" and are safe to approach
3. Manchones reef- slight current..wonderful fish life, stag horn coral abundant
4. Canonero Wreck- 90 feet..shrimp boat which went down during a hurricane..
5. Cruz De La Bahia- large submerged cross
6. Ultra Freeze wreck

And many more...we will be diving here march 13-28 and enjoy this area very much. Nothing is accessible from shore..boat diving only.
Two recommendations for dive shops:
1. Enriques Unique dives-small op, 1 boat, very personalized service. Enrique has ventured out on his own after many years with Coral Dive ( the owner retired and closed the op)
2. Crystal Divers- heard great things about their instructor. Comes highly recommended by a friend who managed another dive op for a number of years ( she has since ventured out into her own business which is not dive related)

IMO..you cannot be disappointed with the diving here or Isla itself.
