U352 this weekend

After my trip was canceled in January due to weather I felt like this....

Good news is the rescheduled trip is this weekend, Three more days of work and then it is dive time! Any other ST'ers going to Olympus March 14/15?

I think Scottyd is diving with Olympus on those days. I have childcare duties or I'd probably be with him. Too long since salt water!

Send him a pm - the last I heard he didn't have a buddy yet.

Au contraire, I don't recall being blown out when I was supposed to be diving with you. And I've been blown out a lot- so I think you bring me good luck!

I just got the call. This is my second time in a row too. At least they called me before the nine hour drive to NC. As before they offered a genuine apology and a full refund, or another date. I am going to try the first weekend in May 3 day trip.

Jon told me another diver had gone to the U352 this week and bottom temps were in the 40's. That is a little too cold for my old bones. I even tried to re-schedule a trip in Pensacola and they are blown out as well.

I guess it is time to pull out the dive DVD's and dream about the first weekend in May!

That's pretty darn cold- should be in the 50s right now- maybe an upwelling- I best the viz would have sucked anyway.

Awww, Chicken and Scotty, I'm sorry, that sucks.

I had a dive with Olympus back in November. It was a single inshore dive and I had just scheduled it so that I could get my new stuff wet before my liveaboard. I got the call 1 hour before the dive was supposed to start and I had just driven the 3 hours down there. Apparently, they had forgotten about Daylight Savings Time and were going to have a partial night dive on their hands.

Look at the bright side, May should be much nicer temp wise. I am a wuss, no change you would find me in the water in March.

The May trip is even better! Three days including the U352, Spar, and Papoose. In the mean time I have dives planned for Destin Florida, Dive Haven, and Blue Water Adventures.

I also picked up a used drysuit and my training class is next weekend. So there are a few more checkout dives somewhere. Even if it is cold in May I will dive dry!

According to my log book last year on May 3 at the Spar the water was 70 at the surface and 68 at 110 ft. It was a little chilly but a great dive. There were only 3 or 4 sand tigers with one female being extremely large. I ascended through a school of Amber Jack sparkling silver in the clear blue water. I dove dry. Everyone else dove wet.

By May 25th the temps were 72 and 70 with lots of Sand Tigers, some tropicals, eels, etc. I dove a 5mm and hooded vest.

Plan B...heading to Tennessee for Lochlow Minn and first time on 40 percent nitrox this weekend! DUI Dog Days April 5, Drysuit class on April 12/13, Destin Floriduh third week of April, and Olympus May 1,2, and 3.
